How-to guide

Build Studio and Design Studio

Build or connect a website, and design pages and graphics in your own brand.

Who this is for: anyone building or changing a website — from a brand-new one to connecting one you already have.

What you need first: your brand kit filled in (logo and colours at least) so what gets built looks like your business from the start.

The difference between the two

Design Studio is where a page's look gets designed — a canvas where you describe what you want and iterate on it visually before it's built. Build Studio is where a page actually becomes a working website you can push live, and where you can also connect a website you already have instead of building a new one. A design from Design Studio can be handed straight to Build Studio to become a real page.

Designing a page in Design Studio

Design Studio's per-floor gallery, prompting you to set up the floor's brand kit first

  1. Open Design Studio from the navigation. If you have several floors, you'll see them grouped by building — pick the floor you're designing for.
  2. Start a new design board and describe the page you want in plain language, using your brand kit as the starting look.
  3. Iterate on the canvas — ask for changes the same way you'd talk to a designer ("make the header bolder", "try a lighter background") until it looks right.
  4. Take the design to Build Studio when you're happy with it, to turn it into a real page.

Building your website in Build Studio

Build Studio is included in every plan (every plan includes every tool); building pages uses Wolf Credits from your plan — see the monthly plan and Wolf Credits.

  1. Open Build Studio from the navigation.
  2. Choose to start from a design, start from scratch, or connect a website you already have if you don't want to rebuild from zero.
  3. Review the preview as it's built — point at anything on the page and describe the change you want.
  4. Push live when you're happy with it. You'll see a confirmation of what went live and where.

Tips

  • If you already have a website, connecting it in Build Studio is usually faster than starting a new design — you can still bring in your brand kit and make changes from there.
  • Small, specific requests ("make this button bigger", not "improve the page") get the best results in both Design Studio and Build Studio.
  • Nothing goes live on your real domain until you choose Push live — you can preview and iterate freely before then.
